The Pontiac Indian Head was a logo used by the Pontiac division of General Motors from 1930 to 1956. The logo was designed by Chief Pontiac, a Native American leader, and featured his likeness in profile with a feather headdress and a big, toothy grin. The logo was changed in 1957 to a stylized arrowhead with the letters "P" and "ontiac" in it. The Indian Head logo has since become a controversial symbol due to its use of Native American imagery and stereotyping. Some tribes have called for its discontinuation, while others have embraced it as a symbol of pride and heritage. Today, the logo is no longer used by the Pontiac brand, which was discontinued by General Motors in 2010.
